The Art of Forgiveness

What does it mean to forgive someone? To truly forgive them for the wrong they have caused you.

I need forgiveness. Forgiveness for all the times I lied as a child. Forgiveness for fighting with my sisters and telling on them. Forgiveness for being a fake.

Forgiveness releases you from your bondage. It clears away the cobwebs so to speak. It makes you realise that God forgives you if you forgive your brother or sister.

(Proverbs 15:1) A soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger.

Why do we need to forgive? If we don’t, it eats us up like a cancer.

Unforgiveness leads to pain in your heart. Unforgiveness leads to loneliness. Unforgiveness ultimately leads to death.

How to Forgive

I have unforgiveness in my heart. I’m angry over how I was treated in the past. So how do I move on?

We  move on a little every day. Forgiveness is a PROCESS. It takes time. It’s a journey.

We  should never punish someone over RESENTMENT. Never should we do that. Forgiveness and resentment are two different emotions. Resentment is a boil that will fester if you don’t deal with it.

(Proverbs 18:21) Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it.

So before you say those hurtful words to someone, think about how those words will have an impact on that person. It could affect them for the rest of their lives.

  1. Forgiveness is giving up our right for justice… It is a journey, a process and it is only known by our learning of Him and our abiding in Him. Continue the journey…
