A Proverbs 31 Woman

My Mother has been the driving force and spiritual guide in my life. She is a rock that can’t be moved.

All my Biblical knowledge I owe to her. Well, most of it anyway!

She knows the Bible back to front. She is probably one of the most well-discerned people I know.

Mothers are forgotten in society.

We are the nurturers and the caregivers of all people. We raise children, clean the home and ensure that everyone is well-fed.  We are the Proverbs 31 women.

Proverbs 31:11 “The heart of her husband trusts in her confidently and relies on and believes in her securely, so that he has no lack of [honest] gain or need of [dishonest] spoil.”

Proverbs 31 details a woman and her role in marriage. Jesus is explaining how much he adores women. He uses charm and glory to beautify women and exalt them to Queen status.

There is a consensus that women are not important in society.  That we have nothing to give.

Strong parental figures are very important to children. My Mother and Father were married until my Father died. Things were different back then. The marriage lasted, loyalty was honourable.

What is a woman’s role now? Do we work full time? Do we stay home and raise the kids and leave the providing up to our husband’s? These answers can and should be found in the Bible.

Proverbs 31:15 “She rises while it is yet night and gets [spiritual] food for her household and assigns her maids their tasks”

I’m woken at night fairly regularly by the Holy Spirit. He prompts me to pray for those people that need prayer. This is the role of a Proverbs 31 woman. To pray and give thanks to a God that is always protecting our best interests.

My gracious mother taught me to pray. She was and is a grand role model for me. Someone I could model my physical and spiritual life off. She is the vine, I’m the branch.

All this time I thought I was crazy. But I’m just a normal Christian woman that is being prompted by the LORD. He uses women to fulfil His grand plan, just like He uses men.

Proverbs 31:23 “Her husband is known in the [city’s] gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.”

I have a friend that moves in the Gift of Prophecy. She prophesied that I would marry a pastor. Funny that, women who prophesy. That’s unheard of! But Jesus loves women.

The Corona Virus has made me think about my salvation and what on earth I’m here for?!

What is my purpose in this life? I found it. My purpose is to preach the good news of Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 31:20 “She opens her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her filled hands to the needy [whether in body, mind, or spirit]”

There are people in this world that are less fortunate than us. They need our help. Life is short. Time is of the essence. Live each day like it’s your last and love someone like tomorrow is gone.
