Spiritual Warfare 101

Australia thought we could fight. But we know nothing about fighting. We are taught to fight with our fists. But that is flesh and blood-fighting.

There’s another war going on, it’s called Spiritual Warfare. The Amplified Holy Bible says there are powers and principalities.  (Eph. 6:12) “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.”

Apostle Paul said we are not fighting with guns or tanks. Paul said we are fighting Satan’s kingdom. We can’t see it, but it’s there in the heavenlies.

The God of Israel is looking for fighters. (Isa. 54:17) “no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

2 Pet. 3:9 explains “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

Satan and his demons are highly trained. They recognise people in the natural (Acts 19:15). But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?”

But Rom. 5:5-6 reminds us of God’s love and power. “and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.”

In the beginning, God created a Garden in the book of Genesis. Genesis in the Greek means ‘origin’ or ‘beginning’ (Gen. 1:1; Heb. 11:3)

Satan thought it was more beneficial to tempt Eve than Adam initially. Why? Because women are the weaker vessel. (Gen. 3:1; 1 Pet. 3:7) But that doesn’t mean women are weak in the intellectual sense. Satan tempted Eve because women hold the power in the family unit. Through love, women keep the family unit together.

So, Satan knew if he could tempt Eve away from Adam, Satan’s kingdom would advance. (Gen. 2:16-17) This is evidence Satan’s kingdom is trying to destroy love!

The God of Hebrews is higher than any demonic force on earth and in the supernatural. He is perfect. Satan’s kingdom is divided. It will fall. (Matt 12:25) Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.”

Dan. 2:28-29 reveals “but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and he has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream and the visions of your head as you lay in bed are these: To you, O king, as you lay in bed came thoughts of what would be after this, and he who reveals mysteries made known to you what is to be.”

I saw hell with my own eyes, a vision. Hell is a real place. You don’t want to go there. All I saw was red eyes amidst the blackness of Hell. The eyes were staring back at me invoking fear and paranoia. (Matt. 18:9)

This vision made me realise God wants us to choose Him. It’s a choice to love God. Gen. 2:17 says “but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

God reminds us not to give up on love or it will surely die (John 14:21).  It will die because Satan will take it from us if we give up on love.

Which leads me to these questions. How does God do it? How does He continue to love us, when we continue to sin?

Isaiah 43:25 is a scripture that reflects the love of God for His children. “I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.”

Isaiah 43:2-5 outlines the overwhelming love of God for every one of us.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you. Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you.”

Scripture says all nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them [the people] from one another as a shepherd separates His sheep from the goats (Matt. 25:32).

Satan masquerades as an angel of light. Isa. 14:12-15 says “How you are fallen from heaven,
O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.”

Satan is smarter than we give him credit for. He is no fool. Therefore, he masquerades as an angel of light. As a Christian, however, we don’t trust Satan. Christians know Satan loses the Spiritual Warfare fight. Rom. 16:20 “And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (The Messiah) be with you.”
